IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund
Deadline: 1/4 - 2018. Event dates: –
The IDA Enterprise Documentary Fund seeks to support this critically important work, while helping filmmakers retain their independent voices and artistic visions. It provides production and development funds to feature-length documentary films taking on in-depth explorations of original, contemporary stories and integrating journalistic practice into the filmmaking process. In addition to funds, grantees will receive additional resources and expertise tailored to the needs of the project. Inclusion and diversity, both in terms of the filmmaking team and subject matter, are a priority of the fund. Grant requests may be up to $100k.

Crossing Borders 2018 - Part 1 & 2
Deadline: 16/4 - 2018. Event dates: Part 1; July 28 – August 2, 2018. Part 2; October 10- 28, 2018
Crossing Borders is a training programme for documentary professionals in Europe and Asia looking to access the international documentary market. The programme has so far taken place in China (2010), Malaysia (2011, 2013 & 2017), Indonesia (2015) and South Korea (2012 & 2016). The Crossing Borders programme aims to bring together filmmakers and documentary experts from both Europe and Asia, who are highly motivated to collaborate with each other across national borders with the ambition to enter each other's markets both artistically and financially. This year's edition of Crossing Borders consists of four sessions: a development workshop kicking off the programme, a separate online session focusing on story development and trailers, a pitch training workshop taking place in October in Leipzig, Germany, and a local workshop and pitching for Taiwanese projects, taking place in Taipei in December.

Creative Europe: Support for the Development of Single Projects
Deadline: 19/4 - 2018. Event dates: -
Creative Europe - MEDIA - Support for Development of audiovisual content - Single Projects + Slate Funding. The deadline is 19/04/2018 - 12:00 (CET, Brussels time). The purpose is to increase the capacity of film producers to develop European Audiovisual works with a potential to circulate in the Union and beyond, and to facilitate European and international co-production. This scheme supports proposals to develop a Single Project or a Slate of 3 to 5 projects (Slate Funding) intended primarily for cinema release, television broadcasting or commercial exploitation on digital platforms in the following categories: animation, creative documentary and fiction. There are multiple Creative Europe deadlines in April, including: Support to Festivals 2018, Support for Training 201 and Promotion of European Works Online 2018.

DOC LAB Poland Co-Production Market
Deadline: 20/4 - 2018. Event dates: May 30 – 31. 2018
DOC LAB Poland Co-Production Market & DOCS TO START Pitching at Krakow Film Festival is a major co-production platform for documentary film producers in Poland. The event is organised since 2015 as part of the DOC LAB Poland programme (awarded with the EDN Award 2018 for outstanding contribution to development of European documentary culture) and KFF Industry. The Co-Production Market on May 30th consists of pre-arranged meetings with international producers and decisionmakers, where filmmakers can find partners for their projects. DOCS TO START pitching on May 31st includes the presentation of the best 12 Polish documentary projects in development and pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings.

Sunny Side of the Doc
Deadline: 25/4 - 2018. Event dates: June 25 – 28. 2018
Each year, the 4-day event brings together broadcasters, decision makers, financing bodies, distributors, content creators and producers from around the world to sell or buy projects and programmes, and to find coproduction partners. Sunny Side of the Doc creates unique opportunities for all +2,000 professionals from 60 countries, to follow the latest industry trends, present 700 untold stories, make new connections and embrace interactive forms of storytelling including virtual reality, through a variety of high-level pitching sessions, panel discussions, networking activities and the added value of an exhibition space. The 29th edition will be held in La Rochelle from June 25-28, 2018.

Ji.hlava Film Fund

The Ji.hlava Film Fund provides in-kind grants for visual and sound post-production of mid-length or feature-length documentary and hybrid films at the stage of production or post-production originating in Central and Eastern Europe, a region with a long documentary tradition. Its mission is to support a range of remarkable and creative filmmakers who have emerged in the recent years in the region in the completion of their cinematic documentary works on contemporary themes, thus helping these films to succeed abroad. Mid-length or feature-length documentary and hybrid films at the production or post-production stage with an expected premiere in fall 2018 are eligible. The completed film will premiere at the 22nd Ji.hlava IDFF 2018. The jury is looking for projects with unique authorial style and focus on contemporary and thought-provoking themes and the results will be announced in July 2018.
