DOCalendar Deadlines in June 2018

The documentary world offers a whole variety of different workshops, pitching sessions and other doc industry events but it's sometimes challenging to keep track of all the dates and submission deadlines. That's why we provide a regular overview of documentary events that have a deadline to meet in the coming weeks. The DOCalendar events in June include deadlines for: EDN Networking Dinner at Sheffield Doc/Fest, DMZ Doc Fund, Twelve for the Future, Creative Europe - Distribution Selective scheme, Ted Rogers Fund, CPH:LAB, Women in Film Finishing Fund and more.

European Co-Production Networking Dinner at Sheffield Doc/Fest
Deadline: 1/6 - 2018. Event date: June 11, 2018
For the first time Creative Europe Desks and the European Documentary Network are joining forces to host a networking dinner during the 2018 edition of Sheffield Doc/Fest with the aim of fostering future collaboration between European documentary professionals. Participation is open to EDN members as well as professionals that have received a direct invitation from a Creative Europe Desk in their country or those who previously participated in our Media & Society Roundtables session in London.

Asian Documentary Projects for DMZ Doc Fund

The DMZ International Documentary Film Festival has supported Korean and Asian documentary productions since its first edition in 2009. This year’s DMZ Docs Fund is also open to Asian documentary projects with public presentations and networking opportunities during the upcoming 10th DMZ Docs in September. There are cash grants of approximately USD 10.000 and USD 20.0000 per project funded. The eligibility for Feature-length Project & New Directors’ Project are projects, which contain Asian elements in terms of story, theme, characters and set-up. The eligibility for DMZ Project is that the main subject must be related to a demilitarized zone (DMZ) with a theme of peace, communication and life.

EDN Co-Production Workshop "Twelve for the Future"
Deadline: 4/6 - 2018. Event dates: September 20-23, 2018
Twelve for the Future is a project driven co-production workshop for young Nordic documentary producers and directors. The workshop aims at developing projects for international co-production, establishing a professional network for the participants as well as connecting Nordic producers/directors and relevant decision makers.

Creative Europe: Distribution Selective scheme
Deadline: 14/6 - 2018. Event dates: -
Selective scheme: Support for the transnational distribution of European films 2018. This scheme aims to encourage groupings of distributors to release European non-national films that might be a challenge were they to be supported by market forces alone. The theatrical release of the film must take place either on, or after, the date of submission and within 18 months of the deadline. The total budget for this scheme is estimated at €9.7 million. Grants are awarded to each distributor in lump sum amounts based on both the country of release and the number of screens covered during the first week of the release.

Ted Rogers Fund

In June 2016, Hot Docs and the Rogers Foundation founded the $1-million Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund to support Canadian documentary filmmakers.
Over the coming 10 years, production grants will be distributed to Canadian documentary filmmakers. The Hot Docs Ted Rogers Fund will provide successful applicants with a grant of up to 20 per cent of the total production costs to a maximum of $20,000 will be granted to three or four projects each year.

CPH:LAB

CPH:LAB is CPH:DOX’s talent development programme that encourages creative risk taking, celebrates raw talent, facilitates collaboration across borders and business sectors and supports frontrunners within the film industry to push the existing boundaries of filmmaking as we know it. Since 2009 the lab has established itself as a highly acknowledged, ambitious and yet playful laboratory-style talent scheme showing great results.

Women in Film Finishing Fund

Women In Film Finishing Fund supports films by and/or about women with cash grants and in-kind services. To qualify, the film must be at the rough cut stage at the time of submission. Stella Artois is proud to expand their support of female filmmakers with the announcement of $100,000 in new grant money for the Women In Film Finishing Fund. Stella Artois will provide four $25,000 grants for fiction and documentary films that inspire social change, with particular consideration given to films with a water theme.
