Apply for the Aristoteles workshop
The workshop organisation Aristoteles invites you to the 5th edition of its documentary film workshop, opened to creative documentary filmmakers, DPs, editors and producers from Central and Eastern Europe. The application deadline is May 31st, 2010 .
Aristoteles is looking for young people with talent, passion, commitment, a voice of their own, and, above all, capacity for teamwork. The courses are designed for young filmmakers with previous film and/or video experience. The programme is co-financed by the French-German TV Channel ARTE.
During the workshop, the students will work in teams, being guided through each and every step of the documentary production. While the emphasis will be mainly on content, the workshop will also cover the latest High Definition TV technologies and techniques.
The workshop is focusing on professional training that encourages the independent spirit, innovation, and creative risk-taking. The content of the workshop is provided by leaders in the documentary field, who will help the participants translate their own ideas into finished documentaries.
The workshop is structured as follows:
Stage 1: Training Narrative style & strategies. Director’s perspective of development. Camera, light, sound. Visual approach, planning & production schedule.
Stage 2: Production Treatment, research & scouting, shooting. Shoot adequate footage, taking into consideration that researching and planning are part of the documentary editing process.
Stage 3: Editing Shaping the documentary in the cutting room. Creative content and visual treatment. Coaching activity during and after the completion of the rough cut.
Stage 4: Finish Line Output to tape. Final evaluation.
The Aristoteles workshop will take place in Romania, between August 1st and September 5th.
With the Aristoteles workshop program you will also be assisted in promoting and distributing the films, which gives you a triple benefit: learning, working, and getting exposure. Aristoteles also provides production and post-production equipment and facilities, and accommodation.
