DOK Leipzig - Int. Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animation Film
Submission deadline: 7/7 – 2018. Festival: October 29 – November 4, 2018

The Leipzig DOK festival accepts documentaries, animated films and animated documentaries of all lengths as well as interactive works. The festival is looking for strong artistic handwriting, intriguing points of view and works that bring their genres to the next level. The submitted film may be nominated for one of the festival’s six prestigious competitions and several special awards with a total prize money of up to 75,000 euros. Additionally, DOK Leipzig is a qualifying festival for both, the ACADEMY AWARDS© and the European Film Awards.

Viennale - Vienna International Film Festival
Submission deadline: 12/7 – 2018. Festival: October 25 – November 8, 2018
The Viennale takes place every October with approximately 92,000 visitors. The program include 300 films from all over the world, which offer a cross-section of bold film-making which stands apart from the aesthetics of mainstream conventionality and is politically relevant. The genres include documentary films, international short films, as well as experimental works and crossover films.

Reykjavík International Film Festival - RIFF
Submission deadline: 15/7 – 2018. Festival: September 27 – October 7, 2018

RIFF – Reykjavík International Film Festival is an independent non profit organization. It takes place every year in late September for eleven days and has existed since 2004. The festival shows a wide range of dramas and non-fiction films from over 40 countries. The festival highlights independent filmmaking from all over the world with an emphasis on up-and-coming filmmakers. RIFF encourages the interaction of film with other art forms by organizing concerts, photo exhibitions and more. Furthermore the festival hosts panels, networking events and workshops. The main prize – the Golden Puffin, is awarded only to first or second time directors.

Sao Paulo International Film Festival
Submission deadline: 27/7 – 2018. Festival: October 18 - 31, 2018
Sao Paulo International Film Festival, also called Mostra Internacional de Cinema takes place in 35 spaces during two weeks in October. It consists of 394 titles, that are exhibited in cinemas, cultural centers and museums around the capital city, including free outdoor screenings.The selection provides an overview of the world contemporary cinema production and of the tendencies, themes, narratives and aesthetics produced worldwide. Mostra Internacional de Cinema is composed by six sections: Tributes, Special Screenings, Swiss Showcase, New Directors Competition, Mostra Brasil and International Perspective.

Warsaw Film Festival

Submission deadline: 31/7 – 2018. Festival: October 12 - 21, 2018
Established in 1985, the Warsaw Film Festival joined in 2009 the elite group of events recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations. WIFF is organised by the Warsaw Film Foundation. Its aim is to present quality films from all over the world to Polish and international audience. Special attention is paid to new directors and their works and to films from Central and Eastern Europe. The competitive sections include international features, independent features and documentaries, international documentaries and short films. There are also several non-competitive sections.
