European support schemes aiming to facilitate the production and promotion of European audiovisual works have become an essential part of our production reality when it comes to funding films in development. Creative Europe, specifically its MEDIA programme, is one of the major supporters in this area and helps many producers and directors getting their films to the market.
The event is organized in collaboration with the European People's Party group (EPP) and aims to highlight the importance of European collaboration to allow for producing films that, without the help of EU partners, would face difficulties in finding their way into national markets, not to mention the European and international outlets. This, however, becomes essential when dealing with subject matters that may be relevant for a wide audience but remain unsupported in national markets — whether it be for political or other reasons.
The film "The Good Change" (Poles Apart / Make Poland Great Again) is an example for such a case and the panel discussion will emphasize the need for such pan-European collaborations, while exploring the mechanisms at work in view of the challenges and opportunities to be found in the current media landscape in Europe.
