Ex Oriente 2014/2015: 3rd session - Market Opens
- Networking at Ex Oriente
March 2 – 8, 2015. East Doc Platform in association with One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Prague, Czech Republic
Ex Oriente Film is a workshop dedicated to the development and funding of creative documentary films in Central and Eastern Europe. Ex Oriente is driven by IDF – Institute of documentary Film in Prague with EDN Head of Studies Mikael Opstrup as leading tutor.
At three residential workshops, participating directors work to develop the subject, narrative and the visual style of their projects, while producers learn more about the best ways to engage potential funders, and about the rules of the international market. Lectures and seminars on legal and financial issues in documentary filmmaking are an important feature throughout the programme. Ex Oriente Film culminates in the final pitching sessions of East European creative projects at the East European Forum.
This third workshop session is dedicated mainly to communication skills and distribution plan and sales, training in pitching techniques, post-pitching negotiations and defining the potential of East European independent producers in the EU film market. The three sessions are completed with a two-day pitching forum where all participants pitch their projects.
Participants are the directors and producers of 12 - 14 projects selected for the development program.
EDN Head of Studies Mikael Opstrup is the leading tutor at the Ex Oriente Film program, and will be heading this third session of the 2014/2015 edition.
