  • The dream coach
  • Sergio Vatta was the coach of the Torino FC youth soccer team from 1976 to 1991 and of the italian youth National teams from 1991 to 1997. He dominated the category competitions in the whole Europe and he invented a new approach in sport education, with a strong attention towards the whole young player, often acting like a father for them. He is considered in Italy and Europe as the main expert in soccer young players education. Vatta tell us how he lived as a refugee for most of his youth, arriving to live in Turin, Italy, after many years of travel from Croatia, succeeding, only after many difficulties, in being a soccer coach. In this documentary he also tells us his poetic vision of sport and why he always refused to train the first teams and the money they were offering him to do that. While training the youth Italian National teams in the ’90 he actually trained personally all the italian soccer champions that made the history of soccer in Italy: Buffon, Del Piero, Totti, Baggio, Albertini, Pirlo to say a few names. We also follow the trainings of a youth team of today Torino FC, trained by his ex player Silvano Benedetti. We run in the playground close to these guys to understand how they prepare to follow their dreams. The film become a discourse about soccer, about what it is today and what it could have been and an invite to give a new life to our hidden kids’ dreams.
