IDFA Deadlines for Jan Vrijman Fund and IDFAcademy Summer School


IDFA, the world’s biggest documentary film festival, has deadlines coming up for a couple of their activities. The Jan Vrijman Fund is on May 15. The IDFAcademy Summer School is on June 1.

Jan Vrijman Fund - Deadline 15 May 2010

IDFA's Jan Vrijman Fund supports documentary filmmakers, festival, workshops and similar documentary initiatives in developing countries.


The JVF provides individual grants of up to:

  •   -  €5.000 for script and project development
  •   -  €17.500 for production and post-production
  •   -  €15.000 for other activities (distribution, festivals and workshops).

IDFAcademy Summer School - Deadline 1 June 2010

From 23 until 28 August 2010 IDFAcademy organizes a Summer School programme. It is a tailor-made training programme aimed at strengthening the narrative structure of documentary film projects in script development and editing stage.

The Summer School combines individual coaching with group sessions and an inspiring cultural program in a relaxed atmosphere. It offers two types of training possibilities: Script Development and Editing Consultancy.

For the Summer School IDFA is looking for first or second time filmmakers, or recently graduated film school students.

Around sixteen projects in script development/rough-cut stage from all over the world will be selected for the Summer School 2010. The selected filmmakers will be coached in Amsterdam intensively by eight international documentary experts.
