DOKUARTS Symposium: Reserved Seats for EDN Members
In collaboration with EDN, DOKUARTS will once again host its annual international symposium as part of the DOKUARTS festival which focuses on creative documentaries with an artistic approach. As every year, 25 seats at the Symposium are exclusively reserved for EDN members.
This year’s symposium is entitled "DOKUARTS — Nuances Now" and will look at the current relevance of nuance and discuss its significance in the realm of documentary filmmaking. Theodor W. Adorno related nuance to the “incommensurable” and referred to it as the “fresh-fallen snow in which intentions have not yet left traces”. Where can we detect links between philosophical concepts and the aesthetics and politics of documentary films? When and how do nuances occur in the process of documentary filmmaking? Why are nuances important, and what kind of difficulties do they entail? What exactly is the poetry, the “incommensurable” of artistic work, and how may it be captured with the camera?
The symposium will take place on 11 October 2019 from 14:00-18:00 at the Zeughauskino, Deutsches Historisches Museum, Unter den Linden 2, 10117 Berlin (Germany). The conference languages are English and German. A detailed description of the conference topics and participants is also available at www.doku-arts.de. Registration is required in advance via firstname.lastname@example.org.
The symposium is part of a comprehensive programme offered in the framework of the DOKU.ARTS festival which takes place from 10-27 October 2019 in the Zeughauskino of the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, Germany.
