Sundance Documentary Fund

Submissions to the Documentary Fund are accepted year round, with granting decisions occurring 4 times per year. The Sundance Documentary Fund supports the work of nonfiction filmmakers from around the globe. In a changing media landscape, the Fund has been a stable, progressive force in supporting work that has expressed the world in creative, complex, beautiful and provocative ways, and has created real cultural and social impact around some of the most pressing issues of our time.
IFFR Pro x VR Days

A jury of VR, film, and technology experts will select a number of projects to present to international professionals at IFFR PRO x VR Days. Organized in collaboration with International Film Festival Rotterdam. Technology and film professionals will examine the possibilities for financing and distribution. As the world of fictional VR is slowly but surely maturing, new and exciting works are created every year, by young and emerging filmmakers but also by more established names. At IFFR we foster innovation and love to be at the forefront of these developments by stimulating adventurous creators with great ideas.
Docs For Sale
Deadline: 15/6 - 2019. Event dates: November 20 – December 1 2019
Docs for Sale facilitates sales of high-end documentaries by gathering all interested parties under one roof, as well as bringing them together through the Docs for Sale online services. Over the years, it has grown into one of the world’s premier markets for documentary cinema. Docs for Sale welcomes artistic documentaries from all over the world, and is open to films that target cinema, television, and online audiences.
Every year, more than 300 TV buyers, sales agents, distributors and festival programmers convene in Amsterdam to watch a selection of the very latest and best documentaries available to the international market. The Docs for Sale Lounge, Meet the Professionals sessions and various other activities offer great networking opportunities. Throughout the year, the market's catalogue is available to registered buyers through Docs for Sale online.

Cinekid for Professionals
Deadline: 16/09 - 2019. Event dates: October 21 – 25, 2019.
With its laser focus on children’s media, Cinekid for Professionals (CfP) is the essential international industry event for producers, directors, broadcasters, distributors, academics, institutes, funding bodies, journalists, researchers and artists, all working within the children’s sector. It takes place during Cinekid festival, the world’s leading media festival for children, and every year over 500 industry professionals involved in film, television, cross-media, digital arts, and media literacy attend the event.
MIDPOINT Writers` Room
Deadline: 13/09 - 2019. Event dates: November 2 – 7 2019
One of MIDPOINT’s programs dedicated to TV series writing and development, the Writers’ Room, is a sidebar module of the project-based 9-months long TV Launch and is designed to support the training of specialized skills and offer practical knowledge about the organization of a writers’ room. The one-off event runs in 4 training days, and consists of lectures, plotting and writing training, and simulation of a writers’ room. The program runs in the English language.

VR Workshop with FX Goby
Deadline: 19/09 - 2019. Event dates: September 29 – October 3, 2019
In this fascinating lab led by Emmy Award-nominated film director, Fx Goby participants will learn the answers to some of the most pending questions in VR productions. Through the use of case studies and hands-on experimentation, students will discover how to tell a compelling story in a full 360-degree environment. They will also learn what foundations of filmmaking do not apply in VR, how to create social experiences, and add interactivity and scale to their projects.
On completion, participants will be able to analyze the differences between film and VR, understand the creative challenges of the medium, and write immersive stories to fully utilize the immense possibilities of this new medium.
