The Future of Documentaries for Kids: Final Call for RealYoung 2016

06.01.2016

The RealYoung programme aims to lift documentaries for kids and young audiences to the next level. The initiative is a new collaboration between IDFA, EDN - European Documentary Network and The Financing Forum for Kids Content with the support of the Swedish Film Institute. Filmmakers and producers are invited to submit their children and youth documentary projects until 15 January 2016.

RealYoung: Bringing children documentaries
to the forefront

RealYoung is a 3-step programme focusing on documentary stories for younger audiences. The programme consists of two online sessions and one on-location meeting, offering filmmakers the opportunity to develop, present and network with the aim of bringing their next kids or youth documentary across borders to an international audience.

RealYoung is seeking ideas that should be independent of any sort of restrictions such as budget, country, team, stage of development or the like. The best ideas will be selected to take part in a development workshop and selected producers will be eligible for an all-access-accreditation to The Financing Forum for Kids Content. The workshop includes tutoring by industry experts and a comprehensive discussion of each project's development potential. It is further planned to invite children from relevant target groups to also participate in the discussions. The six projects to be chosen for RealYoung 2016 will be selected in two different categories:

RealYoung Pitch Projects: 3 projects will take part in the full development programme, pitch during The Financing Forum for Kids Content and have individual meetings with financiers and potential collaborators.

RealYoung Development Projects: 3 projects will take part in the full development programme and have individual meetings with financiers and potential collaborators.
