SIMA Announces Winners of Social Impact Media Awards 2016


The annual Social Impact Media Awards (SIMA) celebrate the best impact documentaries from around the world that inspire activism, compassion and social transformation. SIMA announced yesterday the line-up of winners for the 2016 edition of their unique initiative.

The winners of this year's SIMA Awards feature an extraordinary line-up of films reflecting passionate filmmaking and storytelling with a focus on topics bearing a great potential for social impact. "These films are exemplary in their ability to intimately and creatively capture the depth and potential of human nature", said SIMA Founder and Executive Director Daniela Kon. 35 films move on to the final judging round. This year's winners take audiences on a journey through 16 countries, including Afghanistan, Brazil, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Liberia, Pakistan, South Africa, Sweden, Ukraine, UK, and the USA.

The "SIMA Impact Cinema: 2016 Winners Series" will showcase five features in Los Angeles at Skirball Cultural Center from April through August 2016. More information about the winners and the previous selection is available on the SIMA website.
