RealYoung 2016: Call for Submissions
Applications are now open for the next edition of RealYoung, a 3-step program focusing on documentary stories for younger audiences. Throughout the programme, filmmakers will develop, present and network with the aim of bringing their next kids or youth documentary across borders to an international audience. Deadline for applying is January 15, 2016.
and young audiences to the next level
Children consume a substantial amount of real stories via tablets, TV, mobile, YouTube channels, apps and via many other outlets. At certain ages they are like sponges, absorbing as many challenging topics as possible. We would like to turn the mirror and send a challenge back to creative documentary makers: Let us together develop documentary stories aimed at the platforms where children watch, engage, share and interact.
We are now calling for six documentary projects aimed at younger audiences to take part in RealYoung 2016. All six projects will:
-
- get individual feedback through online consultation
-
- take part in an intensive 1-day development program
-
- have individual meetings with potential collaborators
-
- gain full access to The Financing Forum for Kids Content
-
- network with international colleagues
-
- obtain extensive knowledge about the international market for children and youth documentaries
-
- be considered for an EDN Online Pitching Session dedicated to documentaries for younger audiences.
THE PROGRAMME
The RealYoung 2016 initiative is a 3-step programme with two online components and one on location meeting. The program consists of these three steps:
1) Pre-workshop module
Mid-February, 2016. Online video meetings
The selected project teams are preparing individually for the in residence workshop by getting one-on-one project consultation provided via videoconference by EDN.
2) Development, presentations and networking
March 15-17, 2016. Financing Forum for Kids Content, Malmö, Sweden
Day 1: Intensive development workshop focusing on project development and fine-tuning of project presentations.
Day 2 + 3: Pitching, one-on-one meetings and participating at The Financing Forum for Kids Content.
3) RealYoung Online Pitching Session/video consultation
September, 2016. Online video meetings.
3-4 projects from RealYoung are pitched in an EDN Online Pitching Session dedicated to documentaries for younger audiences. Projects not taking part in the online pitch, will conclude the development program with an individual video consultation, mapping market potentials for the project.
