Peter Gerard leaves Distrify and joins Vimeo
Peter Gerard, one of two founders and former CEO of Distrify, has left the company in order to join Vimeo. The other of the two founders, Andy Green, stays with Distrify to further develop the online film-sharing tool.
In his new position at Vimeo, Peter Gerard will serve as Director of Audience Development & Content Operations. This is a newly created position, which includes driving the distribution and sales of Vimeo On Demand. Gerard will be based in New York. Vimeo recently crossed 170 million global viewers and has entered its first commission of original programming with the series High Maintenance.
A producer and director himself who has distributed his documentary shorts on the web, Gerard says he looks forward to helping filmmakers build their careers. Gerard has more than 15 years of experience in software development and filmmaking and has among other things worked on The D-Word online documentary community. At Distrify he was in charge of product development, customer support, user experience, global payments and a range of other things.
The other of the two Distrify founders, Andy Green, stays with the company and will lead the further development of the online film-sharing tool. Distrify was recently re-funded by EU’s Creative Europe program with an increased commitment. In its continued work with the film community Distrify is currently working on new developments and will announce new additions to their online tool later this summer.
