Conference on What is Restoration?
FOCAL Int, The Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries, is organizing a conference on film, video, audio restoration and preservation. It takes place on May 2 2013 at BFI, Southbank in London.
During the What is Restoration? conference global experts in the field of preservation and restoration will discuss and analyse the range of work being carried out to preserve the world’s film and video heritage covering ethics, techniques, commercial pressures, principles, presentation, formats, the canon, audiences.
Speakers at the conference includes representatives from the World Cinema Foundation, BFI National Archive, Screen Archive South East, Cinepost Production in Munich, L'Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, EYE Film Institute in Amsterdam as well as Grover Crisp, Executive VP, of Asset Management, Film Restoration & Digital Mastering, Sony Pictures Entertainment.
The conference will also include case studies of work done by archives, film laboratories, facility houses and other specialist digital operations, as submitted to the FOCAL International Awards in association with AP Archive.
During the informal lunch, a number of key skills and technical achievements will be commended. The conference is happening on the day, when the FOCAL International Awards Gala ceremony takes place in the evening.
