Sheffield Doc/Fest announces six pitch competitions
Sheffield Doc/Fest has so far announced six pitch competitions as part of their 2012 industry program.
The six competitions at Sheffield Doc/Fest all have different means and criteria. The are as follows:
Wellcome Trust Pitch Awards of up to £10,000 that engage the audience with contemporary or historical biomedical science, in an innovative and accessible way. Submission deadline: April 27
The WorldView Pitch Win £10,000 to make a development-oriented doc on the theme "Women Make Business" - aimed at emerging talent. Submission deadline: April 30
Channel 4 First Cut Pitch Win a 10-12 week placement to direct a half-hour film with a £50,000 budget, or a £5k development fund for a runner-up. For UK filmmakers. Submission deadline: May 4
Mini MeetMarket An opportunity for new and emerging documentary filmmakers to meet executive producers in an informal setting, to get a response on how you pitched it as well as pointers on how it needs developing, where to go next, and how to improve your chances of getting funding. Submission deadline: May 18 at 5pm
The Specialist Factual Presenting Pitch Aspiring presenters from a variety of academic disciplines can enter the Specialist Factual Presenting Pitch. Submission deadline: May 30
The 94 Elements Live Pitch Win a crowdfunded £5000 short doc commission for a new cross-media project. Sheffield Doc/Fest will be launching the project and accepting ideas for pitches soon.
