European Documentary Festivals Launch New Collaborative Network
Four European documentary festivals, DocsBarcelona, FIPADOC, MakeDox and DOK.fest München, have recently launched a new strategic collaboration that will establish a back and forth bridge between four European territories: Germany, France, Spain and the Balkans. The launch of the newly created FestDocsNetwork was announced during this year's edition of DOK.fest München.
The new initiative FestDocsNetwork, promoted and coordinated by DOK.fest München in the year of its launch, will coordinate collaborative activities to strengthen the overall impact on audiences and the international industry. The partnership is based on the common objective to support and promote extraordinary creative documentaries, with the aim to increase their accessibility, making them available to a wider audience in future.
“For us, the most important thing is that documentaries we are programming at all our festivals are given the chance of being seen. Our four festivals join together their strength, their expertise and their hearts to ensure a greater exposure for documentary films. The crisis we are currently experiencing allows us to confirm the fundamental importance of working together” representatives of FestDocsNetwork said.
In future, the four festivals will support each other in programming films from their respective countries. They will also arrange for mutual festival visits, whcih also involves an exchange of key industry experts from each country. The joint approach will also include participating in Q&A's with the public, master classes, round tables, juries, programming or tutorials. Another advantage of the new collaboration will be the exchange of knowledge regarding the management of these festivals, in order to strengthen the European documentary ecosystem in difficult times.
