IDFAcademy Summer School: Applications accepted until 1 April 2015
The eighth edition of the IDFAcademy Summer School will take place from 29 June to 4 July 2015 in Amsterdam. The deadline for applications is 1 April 2015. This year's Summer School focuses on the two subject areas "Script Development" and "Editing Consultancy".
The IDFAcademy Summer School is open to:
• Directors making their first or second feature documentary (no filmschool students)
• Ten projects in the script development phase and six projects in the rough-cut phase
• Creative documentary projects
The "Script Development" part of the summer school is intended to strengthen film projects by working intensively on a strong narrative in the early stages. Participants are encouraged to focus on both their own film projects as well as each other's work.
Another part of the program touches on "Editing Consultancy" which requires shooting to be near completion and a rough cut ready for the start of the IDFAcademy Summer School. The participants will work intensively with an experienced editor for three to four days, during which time they refine the rough cut, depending on the editing stage at the time of the workshop.
A total of 16 projects will be selected for participation. Filmmakers who are selected have the opportunity to bring a sparring partner: a creative producer or a co-scriptwriter. In the case of participation in "Editing Consultancy" the filmmaker must bring an editor.
Further information (incl. guidelines, conditions and application form) is available on the IDFA website.
