San Francisco Film Society announces expansion of documentary film fund
The San Francisco Film Society has announced that the SFFS Documentary Film Fund has been expanded beyond its initial three-year trial period.
The SFFS Documentary Film Fund supports feature-length documentaries in postproduction. Since 2011 SFFS has distributed $100,000 annually in grants designed to advance new work by US documentary filmmakers. The aim is to champion singular nonfiction work that is distinguished by compelling stories, intriguing characters and an innovative visual approach.
As with all Film Society grants, in addition to the cash awards, recipients gain access to numerous benefits through Filmmaker360, the Film Society’s comprehensive and dynamic filmmaker services program.
Among the criteria to apply for to the SFFS Documentary Film Fund are:
- - Applicant must reside in the United States
- - Project must be a feature length documentary (60 minutes or more)
- - Project must be in, or within three months of, postproduction
The next application period for the Documentary Film Fund is now open with a final deadline on December 6, 2013. Winners will be announced in spring 2014.
