DOK Leipzig is Looking to Hire New Artistic Director and CEO
German-based DOK Leipzig festival is currently looking for a new artistic director and CEO, set to start working for DOK Leipzig no later than 1 January 2020. The ideal candidate will have a variety of skills and qualifications in line with the requirements needed to lead and manage the renowned A-List festival.
The Leipziger Dok-Filmwochen GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of the city of Leipzig and host of the festival DOK Leipzig, the annual International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film. It is the oldest and one of the major documentary film festivals in the world and the largest in Germany. As such, it is a highlight in Leipzig`s cultural calendar. With its high-quality film programme and its dynamically growing industry offers, the festival attracts around 1,700 trade visitors and more than 45,000 spectators to Leipzig each year. It is an important public festival, a meeting place for the national and international documentary community and an institution with numerous activities and partnerships. In order to continue this successful development, the city of Leipzig is looking for a convincing personality for the position of Artistic Director and CEO (starting no later than 1 January 2020).
In addition to the results-oriented economic and organisational management of the company, the position also entails conceptual and content planning tasks as well as the realisation of the festival. The overall aim will be to strengthen and expand its competitive position with regard to other national and international film festivals. Close cooperation with the City of Leipzig, its institutions, the supervisory bodies of the festival, public funders, as well as fruitful contacts to sponsors will be of great importance.
DOK Leipzig is looking for an experienced leader who has successfully completed university studies in the field of film, media, cultural or economic sciences or has comparable qualifications and experience in the planning and organization of cultural festivals, ideally film festivals.
Candidates should also be experienced in the acquisition of funding and sponsorship funds. In addition to professional qualifications and entrepreneurial flair, applicants will be distinguished in strong communication and diplomatic skills and empathy. The ideal candidate will strive to find solutions in an assertive, decisive way and is able to convincingly present DOK Leipzig at local, national and international levels. Furthermore, fluent German and English proficiency in spoken and written word are required.
