DOCalendar Deadlines in June 2019

The documentary world offers a whole variety of different workshops, pitching sessions and other doc industry events but it's sometimes challenging to keep track of all the dates and submission deadlines. That's why we provide a regular overview of documentary events that have a deadline to meet in the coming weeks. Sundance Documentary Fund

Submissions to the Documentary Fund are accepted year round, with granting decisions occurring 4 times per year. The Sundance Documentary Fund supports the work of nonfiction filmmakers from around the globe. In a changing media landscape, the Fund has been a stable, progressive force in supporting work that has expressed the world in creative, complex, beautiful and provocative ways, and has created real cultural and social impact around some of the most pressing issues of our time.
TFL Audience Design Fund
Deadline: 3/6 - 2019. Event dates: -
The TFL Audience Design Fund is addressed at producers or sale agents established in one of the countries participating in the MEDIA sub-programme, to support the distribution in 3 territories of a feature film project involving at least one co-producer from non-MEDIA sub-programme and non-Eurimages country. In 2019, a total of 3 TFL Audience Design Fund Awards of € 40.000 each will be granted to companies presenting an eligible project (feature film, animation and creative documentary) for selection, to be released in 3 territories within May 30th, 2021.

IDFA Bertha Fund Classic – Project Development & Production & Post-production

Contributions for project development during the early phase play a crucial role in starting up a project. The maximum contribution for project development is €5,000. A contribution for project development can be spent on research, the development of the screenplay and/or the production of a trailer. Applications have to be submitted by a director or producer from a country on the IBF Country List and the contribution must be spent in a country on this list as well.
Financial support for production and post-production allows filmmakers to actual realize their projects. The maximum contribution for production & post-production is €17,500. These contributions can be spent on all forms of production and post-production, from filming and editing to making the documentaries suitable for screening in cinemas, on television and at international festivals. Applications have to be submitted by a director or producer from a country on the IBF Country List and the contribution must be spent in a country on this list as well.

International Documentary Masterclass “Interdoc“ is realized and organized by the Independent Film Centre “Filmart” since 2011, and has so far had 59 participants from 26 countries. This is an opportunity for everyone wanting to develop their skills in documentary – scriptwriting and directing in creative documentary. This 10-day intensive workshop takes place in Pozega (Serbia) every summer in August, along with the second stage of the “Interaction“camp.
TFL World Co-Production Fund

Through the TFL World Co-Production Fund, a € 50.000 grant will be awarded to encourage directors developing their 3rd feature film project onward. The applicant must be a production company based in one of the countries participating in the MEDIA Sub-programme, working with international partners. The TFL team will shortlist 3 projects that will be invited to take part in the TFL Meeting Event 2019 (Turin, Italy), where they will benefit from a dedicated consultation on international co-production. A selection committee will announce the awarded project during the TFL Awards Ceremony.

The AIBs 2019
Deadline: 28/6 - 2019. Event dates: November 11, 2019
The AIBs are the international awards for factual television, radio, audio and online productions in any language. 2019 marks the 15th year of these independent, influential and respected awards.The AIBs offer an opportunity for brands to align themselves with the world’s most compelling factual content and the world’s best producers. The AIBs also provide an unobtrusive yet effective way to reach tens of thousands of influential people in the media industry in over 150 countries across nine months each year.
