Videocamp Film Fund 2018

On the occasion of the 'World Down Syndrome Day' on 21 March, SVOD platform Videocamp has announced the launch of the Videocamp Film Fund 2018. The fund presents an award aiming to fully fund an impactful documentary, fiction or animation film on 'inclusive education' for children with disabilities.

IDA Documentary Awards
Deadline: 9/7 - 2018. Event date: In December (TBA)
The IDA Documentary Awards is dedicated to the art of documentary film. Winners are announced live at the IDA Documentary Awards ceremony in Los Angeles in December. Entry is open to any documentary, nonfiction or factual program; the seven main award categories: Feature, Short, Episodic Series, Curated Series, Short Form Series, Limited Series, and the David L. Wolper Student Documentary Award.

P.O.V. Call for Entries 2019

P.O.V., public television's showcase for independent, non-fiction film and video seeks programs from all perspectives to showcase in its annual national PBS series. All subjects, styles and lengths are welcome. Both domestic and international filmmakers may submit. Each year, POV brings 14 to 16 new films to public television viewers. The summer series and year-round specials push the boundaries of nonfiction television with work from emerging and established filmmakers that reflect the range and diversity of American voices. POV films have an average audience of 2 million per broadcast, making POV the most-watched independent documentary showcase on television today. POV is filmmaker-focused; intent on supporting and presenting the work of today's best contemporary storytellers.

Encounters Rough Cut Lab
Deadline: 16/7 - 2018. Event dates: August 6 - 10, 2018
Encounters South African International Documentary Festival invites South African filmmakers to submit their films for the 2nd Encounters Rough Cut Lab to be held in Cape Town from Monday 6th August 2018 to Friday 10th August 2018. A maximum of 3 South African projects, consisting of one director and one editor, whose films are in post-production, will be selected to spend five (5) days working on their film with an experienced editing mentor. Projects will receive expert advice on story structure and technical aspects.

Doha Film Institute Grants Programme

The goals of the Doha Film Institute Grants Programme are to identify new talent, seek out new cinematic voices and discover universally resonant stories.
The Institute’s approach is to champion projects that aim to explore, expand and cultivate authentic storytelling, with a keen interest in propelling forward the medium of cinema.The Programme provides creative and financial assistance for short and feature-length films, subject to eligibility criteria, by Qatari and international first- and second-time directors, as well as established MENA directors.

Lisbon Docs 2018

The 2018 edition of Lisbon Docs will concentrate on strategies to create top-quality documentary projects and on how to deliver them to existing and new audiences. . Lisbon Docs is a reference for professionals who seek financing and co-production opportunities for documentary projects. The workshop sessions will focus on analyzing the content of the selected projects and on delivering advice about how to tell stories in a way that will allow filmmakers to find an audience without loosing their artistic integrity. Lisbon Docs is open for all European documentary professionals and has a limited number of seats for participants coming from outside Europe.

The Swiss Fund Visions Sud Est – Summer

The Swiss fund visions sud est was initiated by the Foundation trigon-film Baden and the Fribourg Film Festival, with the collaboration of Nyon's Visions du Reel and the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. It supports film productions from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe, aims at making them visible worldwide and guarantees their distribution in Switzerland. Furthermore they aim to encourage independent production and subsequent distribution in Switzerland and in Europe of full-length cinema fictional films and documentaries in postproduction. The winter application date is February 27th, 2019.
