GSDF - Global Short Docs Forum
Deadline: 09/02 - 2018. Event dates: May 15-18, 2018

Global Short Docs Forum (GSDF) is a new initiative nurturing filmmakers of documentary shorts and connecting them with digital platforms. GSDF will host 16 filmmakers, selected from a global call, to attend a 4-day residency at the Frontline Club in London. Filmmakers will benefit from invaluable pitching training, mentoring and masterclasses from industry experts and one-to-one meetings with decision makers.

RealYoung 2018
Deadline: 10/01 - 2018. Event dates: March 13-15, 2018

RealYoung is a 3-step program focusing on documentary stories for younger audiences. Here you will develop, present and network with the aim of bringing your next kids or youth documentary across borders to an international audience. RealYoung is an initiative where creators, funders, experts and publishers come together with the aim of developing great real life stories for kids or youth in a targeted and comprehensive programme.

dok.incubator 2018
Deadline: 31/01 - 2018. Event dates: April 1 – September 30, 2018.

dok.incubator is a six–months mentorship programme focusing on the professional development of filmmakers and offering participants access to internationally experienced tutors for developing their films and testing new ideas in terms of storytelling. Eight teams, each consisting of a producer, director and editor will optimize the film's focus and storytelling, taking into account that there are always multiple ways of telling great stories. The sessions will provide a wider perspective and investigate the potential of films on the international market featuring concrete tools to effectively approach future audiences. Intensive editing, distribution and audience building will turn rough-cut projects into high-end films that attract worldwide interest.

Whicker’s World Foundation - Funding Award

Deadline: 31/01 - 2018. Event dates: -
Each year £80,000 will be awarded to a new director with the most promising pitch for an authored documentary which fulfils the core criteria of the foundation and can be completed for screening with this award.
The money will be paid in instalments to the director’s film company, enabling a project, which deserves to be realised, to reach as wide an audience as possible. A second award of £15,000 will be granted to contribute to a film fund for a runner-up.
