Diego Mas Trelles Appointed Head of Industry at DocsBarcelona


DocsBarcelona announced yesterday that director, producer and programmer Diego Mas Trelles has been appointed as the festival's new Head of Industry. Mas Trelles is well known in the sector for his broad scope of professional experience gathered in collaboration with European and international broadcasters as well as his work related to his own career as producer and director.

Diego Mas Trelles previously worked as director of corporate and advertising videos, TV programs and documentaries - among other formats - for broadcasters such as ARTE, TVE, TV3, Canal+, FR3, ZDF, USA Networks and Calle 13. His last documentary, "Sexo, Maracas y Chihuahuas", has been screened at numerous international festivals and was nominated for the Gaudí Awards.

Over the past years, he has further been director and host of the TV show Documenta 2 and advisor of the ARTE network at TVE as well as audiovisual consultant for the Multimedia Dictionary of Contemporary Art of Centre Pompidou. He also worked as associate producer and director of production, executive producer, scriptwriter, curator of documentary screenings and coordinator of conferences and publications. In addition to his participation and work involved in various audiovisual markets, conferences and courses at numerous universities, he was also president of DocusMadrid (Association for the Promotion of Documentary) and member of the Platform of Spanish Cinema and the Spanish Coalition for Cultural Diversity.

Trelles stated in an interview that events like DocsBarcelona are instrumental to reinforce not only the role of local productions but to also foster a climate of networking and encourage international co-productions with the aim to increase the reach and impact of participating filmmakers.
