Creative Europe Media: Call Open for Online Distribution Support

The MEDIA sub-programme announced yesterday that applications are now open for online distribution support, a scheme aimed at European professionals of the audiovisual industry (eg. producers, distributors, sales agents, exhibitors, rights aggregators, VOD services). The application deadline is 21 June 2016 (12:00 CET).

This scheme is open to entities (private companies, non-profit organisations, associations, charities, foundations, municipalities/Town Councils, etc.) established in one of the countries participating in the MEDIA sub-programme and owned directly or by majority participation, by nationals from such countries. The initiative involves potential support in three major areas:

Support to VOD services

It will support activities implemented by European VOD services in order to improve the presence, the visibility and the global audience of European audiovisual works on their platforms.

Support to the development of "On Line Ready" packages

Eligible activities are those consisting in assembling and delivering digital packages of European audiovisual works. It aims at improving their availability and visibility in particular on VOD services provided in countries where those works are not available on any distribution platform.

Support to innovative multiplatform releases

This action is aimed at encouraging innovative approaches for multiplatform releases of one or several European films. Each film must be released in at least three countries participating in the MEDIA Sub-programme. Applications must propose to experiment with simultaneous or quasi-simultaneous releases of European films on a wide range of distribution platforms (festivals, cinemas, DVD, VOD services, television channels, etc.) and in a number of European territories. They shall aim at developing new business models.

More information about the call is available on the EACEA website.
