Join D-Word and Docs in Progress’ Peer Pitch at AFI Docs
The D-Word is partnering for the fifth year with Docs In Progress and AFI Docs (formerly Silverdocs) to present Peer Pitch, a special program for documentary filmmakers to get feedback from peers on their pitches and trailers.
Peer Pitch will take place all day on Wednesday, June 19 at Docs In Progress in Silver Spring, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. AFI Docs opens that night and continues through Sunday, June 23 in both Silver Spring and Washington DC.
The full day pitch program will give up to ten documentary filmmakers the opportunity to present new projects to fellow filmmakers for feedback and for all attending to gain valuable insights and new connections which can guide their own filmmaking.
Peer Pitch is intended to create constructive feedback from peers in a nurturing environment and to help identify strengths and areas for improvement in projects. Participants will also develop skills and comfort in verbally describing their projects among peers before trying their pitches out on industry. Even if you don't have a project of your own to pitch, your feedback could be invaluable to your peers.
All Peer Pitch participants get a pass to AFI Docs for the same price as the pass alone, as long as you register for both through Docs In Progress by June 10. The Festival Pass will get you into all festival screenings (except Opening Night) as well as Catalyst Sessions. This Combo Deal is $150 (or $180 if you want Docs In Progress to purchase you a Metrocard good for up to eight Metro rides between Silver Spring and Washington DC for festival screenings). Peer Pitch alone is $100.
