André Valentim Almeida wins Doc Alliance Award 2014
The winning film of the Doc Alliance Award 2014 was announced Monday at the Doc Brunch in Cannes.
The prize was handed out by a jury of seven international film critics and went to the Portuguese film The Quest of the Schooner Creoula by André Valentim Almeida.
The film is a personal essay and journey of discovery, as the director boards the schooner Creoula heading for the Selvagens Islands to document the biggest Portuguese scientific expedition ever. During this journey he finds memories of the Portuguese fishing history in Newfoundland where his uncle was a captain, which leads him to the discovery of his country's past as well as his own.
At the Doc Alliance Film web site you can read more about The Quest of the Schooner Creoula.
