SIMA 2017 - Social Impact Media Award
The 5th annual SIMA Awards champion eye-opening impact cinema that exemplifies excellence in its potential to inspire social change. Each year, films are selected from over 140 countries around the world, competing for honors, cash prizes, industry accolades, media features, distribution opportunities, entry into SIMA’s signature film programs and a chance to be showcased at the SIMA 2017 Winners Festival. Finalists will be announced on January 12, 2017 and Winners on February 9, 2017.

EDN Online Pitching RealYoung
The EDN Online Pitching Session is an online video conference, where a selected number of documentary projects are pitched and matched with decision makers fitting the specific profile of the projects. This pitching session is focusing on documentaries for children and youth. The pitch is part of the RealYoung initiative, but we are also calling for documentary projects, which have up until now, not been part of RealYoung. The initiative is presented in collaboration with our partners IDFA and the Financing Forum for Kids Content. The submission deadline is September 20, 2016 at noon.

6th East Doc Platform
The 6th edition of East Doc Platform, the biggest documentary event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, will take place in March 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic. The event is organized by Institute of Documentary Film in association in collaboration with One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival. Apart from the traditional meetings of documentary professionals, workshops, lectures, pitchings, networking events and other activities, participating projects in development will have the chance to win 7500 EUR. Other awards include the HBO Co-production Award and the Czech TV Post-production Award.
