The documentary world offers a whole variety of different workshops, pitching sessions and other doc industry events but it's sometimes challenging to keep track of all the dates and submission deadlines. That's why we provide a regular overview of documentary events that have a deadline to meet in the coming weeks. IDFA Bertha Fund - Europe International Co-Production

This category caters to documentary projects in all stages of production that have a director from a country on the IBF Europe Country List that are realised through international co-productions between at least one European and one non-European producer. The maximum contribution per project is €40,000. The application has to be submitted by the European co-producer and should involve a creative element from Europe, i.e. a key crew member or (...)

The purpose of SØRFOND grants is to stimulate the production of films in developing countries where such production is limited by political or economic causes. The grant shall contribute to strengthen film as a cultural expression, to promote diversity and artistic integrity on the international film scene, and to strengthen freedom of expression. The grant shall also contribute to an increased cooperation between Norwegian and international film industries. NOK 2.66 million (approximately € 275.000 ) will be handed out as production grants in 2019 through an inter-departmental cooperation between The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Norwegian Ministry of Culture.
Nordisk Panorama Market
Deadline: 15/4 - 2019. Event dates: September 21 – 24, 2019
Nordisk Panorama Market offers a comprehensive overview of the newest independently produced Nordic short and documentary films. Presenting some 250 titles completed within the past year or being in the pipeline, Nordisk Panorama Market is a unique window to what's cooking in the Nordic region. Welcoming international film festivals, distributors and buyers from all over the world. Deadlines: films completed last year, 15 April; films completed this year, 1 August.
Doc Market - DocFest Ireland
Deadline: 19/4 - 2019. Event dates: June 13, 2019
Doc Market is an opportunity for filmmakers to meet with top decision makers including international funders, broadcasters, distributors and exhibitors on a one to one basis. The Doc Market will take place on Thursday 13th June. It will be a hub for funding, sales and distribution of documentaries in Ireland and globally, and an incubator for nurturing domestic talent so that our industry can continue to thrive in the future.
Sunny Side of the Doc
Deadline: 19/4 - 2019. Event dates: June 24 – 27, 2019
Each year, the 4-day event brings together broadcasters, decision makers, financing bodies, distributors, content creators and producers from around the world to sell or buy projects and programmes, and to find coproduction partners. Sunny Side of the Doc creates unique opportunities for all +2,000 professionals from 50 countries, to follow the latest industry trends, present 700 untold stories, make new connections and embrace interactive forms of storytelling including virtual reality, through a variety of high-level pitching sessions, panel discussions, networking activities and the added value of an exhibition space. EDN will be hosting an umbrella stand at Sunny Side and offers members of EDN and the Nordic Delegation a discount of up to €75 on registrations. The deadline for submitting projects for Sunny Side is 19 April 2019.
