EFA Announces Nominees for 29th European Film Awards

Following up on the announcement of the official EFA Documentary Selection in August, the European Filma Academy has now revealed the final slate of films nominated for the next edition of the European Film Awards. The nominations are largely based on a previous selection in which ten documentary film festivals have recommended one film each which had its world premiere at the respective festival’s latest edition. EDN - European Documentary Network was involved in the selection of festivals that recommended the contenders which the EFA Documentary Commitee included in its assessment for determining the final nominations.

The nominated films and short films cover a wide variety of topics, ranging from child-workers in Afghanistan (The Land of the Enlightened by Pieter-Jan de Pue) up to impressions from Aleppo and the conflict in Syria (9 Days - From my Window in Aleppo by Thomas Vroege, Floor van der Meulen, Issa Touma) and the European refugee crises represented by Gianfranco Rosi's Fire at Sea. The 29th European Film Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, 10 December 2016 in Wroclaw, Poland, at the National Forum of Music and will be streamed live on and broadcast across Europe.
