17.02.2015

DOK.Incubator is an international documentary rough-cut workshop for editors, directors and producers. The programme provides 6 months of individual tutoring (incl. three onsite sessions in different cities). The lecturers and tutors are top international editors, producers, marketing experts and distributors. Applications for DOK.Incubator can be submitted before 3 March 2015.

DOK.Incubator: 6-month individual tutoring workshop

Programme features and highlights:

A forum of 25 international professionals will support the selected teams while working on dramaturgy, distribution strategy and marketing (May – October 2015). Participants will find inspiration for their storytelling gained from tutors and participants from across Europe (incl. Eastern Europe) and the USA. The programme further provides access to deep knowledge of the current film market and sophisticated know-how about how to build a tailor-made distribution strategy. And finally, participants will discover new tools for targeting and attracting a wider international audience.

How it works:
- 8 creative teams of feature-length documentaries are selected
- teams are invited to three intensive week-long workshops
- 1st Session: May, Czech Republic - ROUGH CUT
- 2nd Session: September, Slovakia - FINAL CUT
- 3rd Session:  October, DOK Leipzig – FINAL PACKAGE, PRESENTATION & PITCHING

The editing mentors work with the participants continuously to develop the storytelling, finding new ways to tell their stories, to focus the topic of your film while optimizing the storytelling. The production mentors help producers to deal with financing, team management and distribution. Marketing tutors follow the teams to position the film as well as to target and attract their audience. The distribution tutors and participants will create a sophisticated strategy for getting into the market.

The programme grants access to a testing audience - comprised of experienced festival representatives and sales agents - allowing participants to design and test an effective and tailor-made distribution strategy. At DOK Leipzig, the films are then introduced to the market at the "DOK.Incubator Preview" session.

Reminder: applications are accepted before 3 March 2015
