Leena Pasanen proposed as new DOK Leipzig director
Former EDN Director Leena Pasanen has been proposed as the new director of the DOK Leipzig film festival. The City Council in Leipzig will decide on the final appointment on 15 October, 2014.
If the final approval from the city council is passed, Leena Pasanen will take the position as director of the DOK Leipzig festival, when current festival director Claas Danielsen leaves the position. Danelsen has chosen to leave the festival after being the director since 2004 and heading 11 editions of the festival. He is leaving the festival by the year and will move on and look for new challenges.
“I am delighted that Leena Pasanen has been nominated as my successor. She is widely respected internationally, a profound connoisseur of documentary film and a very experienced cultural manager”, says outgoing festival director Claas Danielsen.
Leena Pasanen has been working for the Finnish public broadcaster YLE as a reporter and commissioning editor. Starting in 2005 she was the director of EDN for three years. For the last couple of years she has been the Finnish Cultural Attache in Hungary.
DOK Leipzig is the oldest running documentary film festival in the world. It takes place on 27 October – 2 November 2014. Read more about the festival in the EDN Festival Calendar.
