IDFA - International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
Submission deadline: 1/8 – 2018. Festival: November 14 – 25, 2018
IDFA is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam In IDFA's main competition programs, the best new documentaries of the year compete for six different awards. Creative documentary films or videos of any length are accepted. No previous screenings/broadcast in the Netherlands. In addition to the festival, IDFA has developed several professional activities, contributing to the development of filmmakers and their films at all stages: The IDFA Forum, Docs for Sale, the IDFA Bertha Fund and the IDFAcademy.

International Film Festival WATCH DOCS
Submission deadline: 1/8 – 2018. Festival: December 7 – 14, 2018
The International Film Festival WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film has been held annually in Warsaw in December since 2001. It combines high-class cinema, mainly documentaries, with public debate. WATCH DOCS is a competitive festival with an international jury. The festival's program includes also permanent repertoire sections, retrospectives and tributes. The festival offers dozens of events accompanying the screenings: Q&A sessions and debates with filmmakers, experts, activists, journalists and politicians, film industry and NGO workshops, public lectures and NGO forums. Selected films take part in the Traveling Festival, visiting 40 localities in Poland throughout the year.

London Short Film Festival
Submission deadline: 20/8 – 2018. Festival: January 11 – 20, 2018
The London Short Film Festival returns for its 16th anniversary from 11th-20th January 2019, hosting screenings and events at venues. LSFF accepts UK and International submissions from all genres, and presents diverse and confrontational film programs each year that aim to hold up a mirror to our rapidly changing world. Each year over 500 films are carefully curated and screened, and over 10.000 tickets sold. LSFF also award the best documentary short film.

Miami International Film Festival
Submission deadline: 31/8 – 2018. Festival: March 1 – 10, 2018
The Miami International Film Festival is the gateway for International and Ibero-American film. The festival hands out several awards with cash prized including an award for best documentary. The $10,000 Documentary Achievement Award is a cash prize given to one documentary film as voted upon by the Festival audience, awarded to the film’s lead producer (production company). All feature-length documentary (50 min or longer) playing in the Festival’s Official Selection are eligible for this Award.
