EDN Congratulates! Three EDN Workshop Projects Receive Awards, Funding
EDN congratulates! is a series of news stories where we congratulate documentary teams from EDN workshops when they have achieved great results. In this edition of EDN congratulates! we are proud to announce that a slate of three EDN forum and workshop projects received awards and development funding.
Production: Håvard Gossé Bergseth | Spætt Film (Norway)
Keeping track of how projects and finished films are doing is of great importance not only to filmmakers but also to the European Documentary Network, especially when projects have been developed or pitched at EDN forums and workshops. Therefore we are proud to announce three titles that have gained official recognition through awards and/or acquisition of development funding. The projects were previously co-developed at the EDN initiatives Lisbon Docs, Docs in Thessaloniki, Twelve for the Future, Crossing Borders and RealYoung.
The awarded and recognized titles are:
Blue Code of Silence | Award for best pitch at DOCNYC
Director: Magnus Skatvold | Production: Håvard Gossé Bergseth | Spætt Film (Norway)
Short Synopsis: Forty years ago, policeman Bob Leuci and a group of prosecutors brought down New York's most corrupt police unit; a case that launched the careers of his prosecutors but gave Bob Leuci the legacy of NYPD's biggest "rat".
Kids on the Silk Road | Best round table pitch at IDFA Forum
Director: Jens Pedersen | Production: Maria Stevnbak Westergren | Pedersen & Co in association with Toolbox Film (Denmark)
Short Synopsis: 'Kids on the Silk Road' tells the story of five children from countries of the Silk Road – the characters are on the threshold of adolescence, fighting for a space and identity of their own, showing bravery by taking action on the things that matter to them. With recognizable themes – friendship, love, wishes for the future, parent's ambitions – a part of every child’s life, the stories aim to eliminate geographical and cultural gaps between the main characters and their Danish audience.
