The documentary world offers a whole variety of different workshops, pitching sessions and other doc industry events but it's sometimes challenging to keep track of all the dates and submission deadlines. That's why we provide a regular overview of documentary events that have a deadline to meet in the coming weeks. Creative Europe: Training, TV Programming & Cinema Networks
Deadlines: Training 7/5, TV Programming 28/5, Cinema Networks 31/5 - 2019. Event dates: -
Training provides support for the development of training measures promoting the acquisition of skills and competences by audiovisual professionals.
The networks of cinema action encourage the networking of European first-run cinemas and the screening of non-national European films by these cinemas. It also supports promotion and screening of European films and educational activities to raise awareness among young cinemagoers.
TV programming supports European production companies interested in producing a television work demonstrating: high creative value, cross-border potential, cooperation between operators from different countries participating in the MEDIA sub-programme and more.
The Whickers: The DARA & The RAFA
Deadline: 8/5 - 2019. Event dates: -
Documentary Audio Recognition Award (DARA) is an award with an annual £3,000 prize for the best audio project, of over 15 minutes in length that has already been broadcast. A runner-up will receive £1,000. The Radio and Audio Funding Award (RAFA) is also awarded annually, to an emerging audio producer based anywhere in the world to produce an original radio or audio documentary. A main award of £7,000 is awarded to an audio documentary-maker to produce a feature-length programme. £3,000 goes to the runner-up.
Documentary Fund @Rogovy Foundation

The Miller / Packan Film Fund supports documentaries that Educate, Inspire and Enrich. The Fund is financed through the Rogovy Foundation. They believe in the transformational power that comes from enlightening narratives and inspiring characters. The Fund began granting in 2016. Each year, grants totaling $200,000 are awarded to between eight and twelve filmmakers. The fund operates an open call submission process, and awards are announced bi-annually. Each grant is one-time only and offered in amounts up to $25,000. Due to the large number of submissions, the selection process is highly competitive.
Meet the Execs @ Sheffield Doc/Fest

Meet the Execs is brings together emerging documentary filmmakers and experienced industry professionals with the aim to provide advice, feedback and training for up-and-coming documentary talents and their projects.
Nordisk Panorama Forum
Deadline: 23/5 - 2019. Event dates: September 22 – 24, 2019
Nordisk Panorama Forum for Co-financing of Documentaries is the main funding event for documentaries in the Nordic region and the annual meeting place for Nordic documentary professionals, looking to connect with a variety of Nordic and international decision-makers. It takes place during Nordisk Panorama - Nordic Short & Doc Film Festival, the most important annual platform for the Nordic short and documentary film community.
East Silver Market
Deadline: 31/5 - 2019. Event dates: October 24 – 29, 2019
East Silver Market is open to creative documentary projects tackling contemporary topics, challenging genre and media boundaries and audience participation. We welcome films that set out to conduct intense and engaged experiences and to change the way we think about topical issues, audiences, ways of storytelling and the world itself. Submission deadline for films produced in 2019: May 31, 2019 Submission deadline for projects in rough cut stage: July 31, 2019
