05.06.2018

Crossing Borders is excited to announce the first slate of documentary projects selected for the 2018 edition of the annual training programme for international co-productions between Europe and Asia. Crossing Borders grants project teams access to valuable expertise from highly specialized professionals and assists in bringing high quality documentary projects to the international market.

(Gallivant Film/ELF Pictures, UK/Hungary)

The first slate of projects selected for the Crossing Borders 2018 programme comes from filmmakers based in Europe as well as South and East Asia. At the Crossing Borders workshops later this year they will be joined by 10-12 projects from the 2018 partner country Taiwan. The Taiwanese projects will be announced by mid July. This year's edition of Crossing Borders once again features two residential workshops: one taking place in Taipei, Taiwan, in July, and a second one in Leipzig, Germany, in October.

The extensive list of workshop trainers includes: Lise-Anne Stott (AsiaNetflix, Singapore), Charlene Shih (Editor, USA), Chris Humphrey (Head of Studies Crossing Borders, Director of Production, A&E Networks Asia), Steven Seidenberg (Head of International Production, LIC-BCBC, China/UK), Chris Hale (Executive Producer, Germany), Elina Kewitz (Managing Director, NewDocs, Germany), Louis Boswell (CEO, Casbaa, Singapore), Lydia Lubon (Executive Producer, Malaysia) and Chiara Bellati (Executive Producer/Director & Showrunner, Singapore).

Crossing Borders is an international training programme launched in 2010 by Documentary Campus and the EDN – European Documentary Network. It brings together filmmakers and documentary experts from both Europe and Asia, who are highly motivated to collaborate with each other across national borders, and have the ambition to enter each other’s markets both artistically and financially.

The 2018 edition is organised in partnership with Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific Limited, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan and the Creative Europe Media Programme of the European Union.
