It is with pleasure that I look back at our time in La Rochelle and I want to thank you for the inspiring and unique encounters last week. It was wonderful to meet and learn about your individual history with EDN as a member and, moreover, to find out more about your past and future projects.

Sunny Side of the Doc was my first occasion to introduce myself as the new Interim Director, to inform you about recent developments more personally and to explain how EDN is in the process of rebooting and reflection. It was extremely valuable to sit together with different professionals among you at the EDN dinner and to listen to all your suggestions on the role of EDN, now and in future, as an association for documentary professionals from Europe and across the globe. It was also important to share, on a more personal level, the challenges EDN has faced over the past six months and we really appreciated the positive feedback.

In the meantime I am proud of our team that managed to prepare everything in such a way that -despite the phase of transition- EDN was able to once again offer what it always offered: the usual EDN umbrella stand where you, as a member, could have a space and opportunity to network with decision makers and of course participate in the EDN cocktail on Wednesday afternoon

We were just as happy to have had the chance to accompany the members of the Nordic Delegation and organize a couple of sessions to get more familiar with the documentary sector in France. I would like to thank Christian Popp (Yuzu Productions) for his introduction to the French production landscape as well as Robert Salvestrin (Lucky You) for insights on the work of French distributors and sales agents. We also had the pleasure to have ARTE's Suzanne Biermann providing an inspiring overview of ARTE's Universe of coproductions and pre-buys. We would like to thanks all of you for having been at our stand, your contribution was highly appreciated by everyone involved.

And despite the tropical climate at the market, most of you came to enjoy some refreshment at our cocktail. As you can tell from it was a beautiful closure to a special week.

And in this regard I also want to send a special thanks for all the hard work, advice and support to our board member Jan Röfekamp, whose presence during Sunny Side was also important for the team, our members and the many professionals we met in La Rochelle last week.
