EDN at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2018

June 7-12, 2018. Sheffield, UK.

During this year's edition of Sheffield Doc/Fest, EDN will once again be represented by EDN Director Paul Pauwels, who - among other activities - will be moderating two sessions related to "The Whickers" funding award (formerly Whicker's World Foundation). Additionally, EDN will present the interim results of the initative "Media & Society - European Documentary in a Changing Media Landscape".

EDN's activities during Sheffield Doc/Fest will include the following elements:

June 10: Pitch Training Session for Finalists of The Whickers Funding Award
In preparation of the final pitch that will be moderated by Paul Pauwels on 12 June, EDN will also advise the teams on how to successfully present their project. Several 30 minute sessions are planned for this year's pitch training.


June 12: Moderating the final pitch of The Whickers (Funding Award)
EDN Director Paul Pauwels will be moderating the final pitch for the funding award of The Whickers Awards. The foundation's jury had previously selected the finalists for all three award categories: the Funding Award, Veteran’s Award and Audio Award. The finalists will be presenting the final pitch and the winners will be announced throughout the course of the festival. June 12: Meet the Execs
At this year's edition of Sheffield Doc/Fest, EDN co-organizes the session "Meet the Execs", a platform for documentary makers to meet industry professionals and get advice, feedback as well as training related to their projects. More information about Meet the Execs can be found here.


Date TBC: Media and Society Presentation
The EDN initiative "Media and Society" is a project aiming to bring together policy and practice in today's audiovidual industry, affirming the independent documentary as a cornerstone of the European media environment. On the occasion of this year's festival edition, EDN Director Paul Pauwels will host a presentation on the initiative, providing an overview on the progress of the project incl. a summary of interim results.
