Beldocs Market 2018

May 7-9, 2018. Beldocs. Belgrade, Serbia

EDN Director Paul Pauwels will represent EDN at the Beldocs industry section and moderate the market programme of this year's edition of the Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival. In addition, EDN Film & Media Consultant Ove Rishøj Jensen will present a session on "Telling Real Life Stories for Kids and Youth 2018".

Beldocs Market is dedicated to the needs of the European film industry with a focus on the Western Balkan region — the market introduces broadcasters of this region to the newest European nonfiction productions. Furthermore it aims to increase opportunities for world sales agents of documentaries in the Western Balkan Region, increase participation and sales of European contemporary documentary films, docuseries and cross media, provide networking opportunities between sales agents, commissioning editors, producers and cinema theaters representatives.

The market also pays tribute to the increasing number of TV and VOD slots dedicated to documentary film and docuseries, and makes aware of open opportunities in the Western Balkans for cross media, innovative tools and new business models in the distribution of audiovisual works. Since there are no similar activities in this part of the Europe, Beldocs Market is widely perceived as being a unique initiative in the region.

Media and Society Session at Beldocs Market

The EDN initiative "Media and Society: Documentary in a Changing Media Landscape" is a project aiming to bring together policy and practice in today's audiovidual industry, affirming the independent documentary as a cornerstone of the European media environment. The initiative will serve as a basis for developing steps towards a more sustainable future by involving the sector's key stakeholders and publishing a policy document, or 'White Book', that will set out clear recommendations for the future. The final document will be presented in November 2018 at IDFA in Amsterdam.

Telling Real Life Stories for Kids and Youth

As part of the industry section of Beldocs, EDN will be hosting the seminar Telling Real Life Stories for Kids and Youth, presented by EDN Film and Media consultant Ove Rishøj Jensen.
